Hermanus is world-famous for its land-based whale watching. Thanks to the town's elevated cliffs and crystal-clear waters, you can spot whales right from the shoreline, often just a few metres from where you are standing.

Stretching for 12 kilometres along the coast, the Hermanus Cliff Path is a treasure trove of viewpoints. Take your morning coffee and head out for a walk. Whales are often spotted near Gearings Point or Sievers Point, just a short stroll from Little Villa.

Old Harbour
This historic harbour offers stunning views over the bay, and whales love to play in this calm cove. There is also a small museum and lookout point if you want to learn more.

Voëlklip and Grotto Beach
Combine a beach day with a bit of whale spotting. Voëlklip has elevated grassy banks perfect for picnics and binoculars, while Grotto Beach is ideal for long walks and ocean views.
